Divorce Lawyer in Singapore

PKWA Family Law offers expert divorce law services, mediation, negotiation and litigation in court. We provide an honest and objective way forward if you and your spouse wish to end the marriage, and our focus is on having the divorce resolved amicably in a practical and fair manner.  The settlement has to be practical (so that it is workable) and fair (so that both parties have a win-win outcome).

If you have decided on a divorce, understanding the legal process is important. There are different ways to get a divorce in Singapore.

Uncontested Divorce

If you are divorcing, but are still on good terms with your spouse, you may be able to obtain an uncontested divorce. The uncontested process is generally the most amicable and cost-efficient way to dissolve your marriage.  Generally, the divorce lawyers at PKWA Law can obtain Interim Judgment (conditional divorce) within one month of you engaging us, and Final Judgment 3 months after that.  There are no court appearances required.

Contested Divorce

If you and your spouse cannot agree on a divorce or if there is animosity and disagreements over custody of children, division of assets and maintenance, then a contested divorce is the way to go to terminate your marriage. Yet even in a contested divorce, there are ample opportunities in court to resolve your differences and reach an amicable agreement.  About 90 percent of contested divorces are settled without going for a full blown hearing.

Divorce Mediation

This is a method, which allows both you and your spouse to discuss divorce matters with a mediator before the divorce papers are filed.  This non-binding process usually occurs in a confidential setting, instead of a courtroom, and allows you and your spouse to remain fully in control of the process.  We assist couples with divorce mediation and try to reach an agreement on the divorce, custody of children, division of matrimonial assets and maintenance.  At the end of the session, the agreement will be drawn up and signed, and the divorce papers filed as an uncontested divorce in court.

Collaborative Divorce

The collaborative divorce process approaches divorce from a healing perspective and seeks to reach a settlement that is truly “win-win” for both spouses and their children. Parties use specially trained collaborative divorce lawyers like the divorce lawyers at PKWA Law to achieve a divorce that is not litigated in court.
