CHILD FOCUSED RESOLUTION CENTRE (CFRC)

 .

What is CFRC?

If you are undergoing a contested divorce and have a child under 21 years old, you will be required to attend mandatory counselling and mediation sessions at the Child-Focused Resolution Centre (“CFRC”). Such sessions seek to help you and your partner develop parenting arrangements that are in the best interests of your child.

Depending on the circumstances of your case, you and your partner will be required to attend a combination of the following sessions.

 .

Family Dispute Resolution (“FDR”) Conference

What happens?

The Judge and Family Counsellor will clarify the issues and set the agenda for the mediation and counselling, as well as narrow any differences between you and your partner. The Judge will then fix a mediation or co-mediation session.

At the end of the FDR conference, the parties will meet with the Family Counsellor for counselling.
